Studio 21      Quirky Cute Boutique by N J Wells

"Following a stroke in 2018 and through NJ’s love of making flowers and quirkiness, The Quirky Cute Boutique was born. The name reflects her out-of-the-box kind of thinking.

Most items are original and unique which have been reworked from recycled pieces. NJ uses a variety of mediums to create her one-off fashion accessories which include hats and fascinators, corsages, hair clips and other gift items.

The Quirky Cute Boutique has played a vital role in NJ’s recovery and proves that creativity aids therapy and promotes a sense of self-worth."

Studio 22      Lyndsey Green

"Lyndsey Green’s artwork is inspired by her passion for animals and conservation, love of folklore and mythical creatures. She loves to tell stories with her illustrations and invent fantasy animals. Lyndsey also enjoys drawing the weirdest and most wonderful animals from real life such as binturongs and fruit bats! By illustrating these lesser-known animals, she hopes to raise awareness about endangered species.

Alongside art prints, Lyndsey sells a variety of eco-conscious gift items, and all her packaging is plastic free."

Studio 23      Naomi Walker

"The son of a cooper from Saarlouis, Michel Ney, 1st Prince de la Moskowa, 1st Duke of Elchingen worked as a civil servant until 1787 when he enlisted in a cavalry regiment, right before the outbreak of the French Revolution. Distinguishing himself as a cavalry officer in the War of the First Coalition, he quickly rose through the ranks and, by the Battle of Hohenlinden (1800), he had been promoted to division general. On Napoleon's proclamation of the French Empire, Ney was named one of the original 18 Marshals of the Empire. He played an instrumental role during Napoleon's subsequent campaigns, seeing action at Elchingen (1805), Jena (1806) and Eylau (1807). Ney commanded the French rearguard during the disastrous invasion of Russia, for which he was lauded "the bravest of the brave" by the emperor. Despite all this, as far as anybody knows, Marshal Ney never made it as far as Trafford.

Naomi Walker lives and works around Greater Manchester."

Studio 25      Chris Roden

"Criss is a psychotherapist and artist working in South Manchester. His practice uses mark making to explore the psyche. This can be from a personal perspective in the form of working through emotional complexes which come from the here and now, or his personal history, or from a self-oriented archetypal perspective; challenges that we all face as humans engaged in the growth process of life.

His work is often characterised by a pendulation between the figurative and the abstract, taking the form of naive landscape/portraits featuring archetypal motifs and forms, which can be amplified to uncover characters from myth and folklore. Criss is strongly influenced by Japanese zen art in his style, which he attributes to study of this tradition at an early age and drawing from shared experiences (the Tao). Criss is also hugely inspired by sufism and its philosophy.

The work featured in this exhibition is part of an ongoing project called 'Asmodeus Flight', inspired explicitly by a chapter in Alan Moore's Jerusalem and a particularly beautiful visit to the Asmolean Museum where he saw the work of Ali Kazim.

He hopes you will find him and talk to him about what you find beautiful."

Studio 28      King Overman

"King Overman is a contemporary artist working in large-scale portrait painting and sculpture. His art style combines his interests in classical portraiture and the boldness of street art.  He often paints strong characters, that directly contrast his own situation living with impaired health.  Active since 2021, he took up art after illness ended a twenty-year career in music. His paintings have been exhibited at Brooklyn Museum and are in the private collection of filmmaker Spike Lee. The name King Overman is a recent alias to distinguish his art from previous musical projects."
